Principals
I have found the overall performance of Ascend Leadership and Learning to be exemplary. They have provided Las Vegas High School with tremendous guidance and support as we move toward schoolwide improvement. Due to the guidance they have provided in the development of our school plan, we have a plan that is easy for stakeholders to implement while truly making an impact on student achievement. They are always accessible and provide me with timely information. Without hesitation, I would recommend Ascend Leadership and Learning to any district looking for a company that is truly committed and dedicated to improving student achievement.

Ascend has knowledge in every area of the curriculum and best practices in every area of the high school curriculum, and that expertise, coupled with sensational people skills, has made the last two years among the most productive ever experienced by this staff. Matt Witmer is a change agent whose pursuit of excellence is unyielding; his focus on students, learning, and the curriculum are equally adamant. This coupled with a focus on professional and trust-filled relationships with all levels of staff make him and his company, Ascend Leadership and Learning, ideal choices to promote meaningful and lasting change in any school district in need of purposeful and effective direction.

Dr. Witmer demonstrated expertise in mobilizing staff, parents, and the community to work together to achieve the school's goals. The dedication and commitment of Ascend Leadership and Learning in assisting our school was instrumental in motivating our staff to celebrate our accomplishments and to continue to strive toward closing the achievement gap. Ascend's extensive knowledge in the area of curriculum development, tiered interventions, professional development and quality instruction has helped me to become a more effective instructional leader.

Teachers
I will use the strategies presented with our adopted curriculum. The husband and wife team presentation was great. Each gave different perspectives on the subject with research to back it up! Their demeanors and personalities were superior and they were a joy to listen to. I can't wait to use the writing activities and ELL questioning poster they presented.

I came to this buy-back day training to earn $250 to help pay for my daughter's prom dress, but I got a lot out of this. As a coach, it confirms that athletics and academics are asking the same question: what is the next level of expectation for the individual and the team, and how do I/we get better? I would love to have Dr. Witmer on our coaching staff. I only attend clinics that help motivate me. Matt motivated me to get even better.

The training in differentiated instruction was helpful for my classroom. As a result, I plan to provide more integrated lessons and strategies that will help my gifted students. I will use less worksheets and try to integrate fun learning centers, projects, and inquiry-based learning.

These were very good presentations that were relevant for us. This helped me to focus more on guiding the students through the grade-level curriculum and monitoring them as they work toward the CST and CAPA testing.

Parents
As a parent volunteer and former educator, I found Matt Witmer’s workshops extremely beneficial and effective. He presented our school with a series of excellent workshops catered specifically to our needs, including effective classroom management techniques, alternative assessment strategies and developing effective lesson plans. Matt was not only knowledgeable and experienced in all these areas, but he also offered a balance in research and reflection which I truly appreciated. I would highly recommend him to any school looking to develop a comprehensive professional development program.

My son and I have utilized Ascend Leadership and Learning to assist us in selecting his courses for high school. It has been a useful tool in mapping out his four years, and it has helped us plan for his college future.
